 The sun lit Brodie Castle
as we prepared to walk the grounds.

This courtyard view is from the edge of the gardens.

25th Brodie of Brodie

The docents working at the
castle
were a wonderfully delightful group. This
courtyard served as a break area.
It was intriguing to imagine the activity
that would have taken place here
when it was an active residence
for a large extended family
closely involved with Royalty! |

This lane led from the castle to the
woodlands. There is a walking path through
woods
and around ponds.
There are several "blinds" for watching the
wildlife. |
One of the highlights of
the Gardens
is the pond
and its inhabitants. |

|
We brought bread along to feed the birds.
There were adult and young swans and ducks.
|
| Unfortunately, my camera
was not appropriate
for the lighting conditions.
This Pictish stone had Pict
characters on one side
and a Christian cross on the other.
It is located along the drive
as you enter the Brodie Castle grounds. |

Upon exiting the castle
grounds
we saw what appeared to be an old train station.
It has been transfomed into a B&B,
however. |
When we extended our ride a
few miles past
the Newton Hotel, we explored suburban Nairn,
checked out a couple golf courses,
and took a look at the shoreline. |
